Why I Turned HealthyWags Barkery Into a Nonprofit: A Mission for Animal Welfare

HealthyWags Barkery began with a passion for creating nutritious and delicious treats for dogs. Over time, it's become more than just a dog treat business—I've become and always have been an advocate for the well-being of animals everywhere. That's why I’m excited to share with you that HealthyWags is now officially dedicated to supporting animals in crises, both locally and beyond.  From now on, the treats that HealthyWags sells will now support the goal of humane treatment of animals in all situations everywhere. 

For years, I’ve been deeply involved in the animal welfare community. Through my work and personal experiences, I’ve seen firsthand the struggles that many animals face, whether due to homelessness, animals in need of medical care, being abused, or in emergency situations like natural disasters.

Shelters and rescue organizations often struggle to keep up with the demand for care, and I realized that simply selling treats wasn’t enough to make the kind of impact to help that I envisioned. I wanted HealthyWags Barkery to become a vehicle for real change in the lives of animals. So, while I’ll continue to create the healthy treats your pets love, your purchases will now play a role in a much larger mission: ensuring that vulnerable animals receive the care and support they need to live happy, healthy lives.

My vision is simple: to make a meaningful difference in the lives of animals who need it most. I believe you care about animals too and together, we can grow our impact, continue to provide healthy treats, and ensure that animals in crises get the care they deserve.
